Bad Brains

Bad Brains are widely regarded as the creators of hardcore punk, blending lightning-fast tempos with intense punk rock energy. Uniquely, the all-Black lineup consisted of masterful musicians who initially started as a jazz-fusion group called Mind Power.

Driven by their devout Rastafarian faith, the band famously counterbalanced their frantic punk tracks with authentic reggae and dub music. This sonic diversity, coupled with frontman H.R.’s wild, acrobatic stage presence, redefined the underground music scene and shattered racial stereotypes in rock. They left a permanent mark on alternative music, directly influencing iconic bands like Nirvana, Living Colour, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
