TRICKY 'Maxinquaye' Vinyl LP (1995 Trip Hop)

Year of release: 1995

Named after his mother Maxine Quaye, who died when he was four, Tricky's debut sets Martina Topley-Bird's soft voice against his own murmured menace. 'Overcome' reworks Massive Attack's 'Karmacoma', and 'Black Steel' turns a Public Enemy song into punk-tinged trip hop.
