SOUNDTRACK 'Super Fly' (Curtis Mayfield) 180g Audiophile Vinyl LP (1972 Soul/Funk)

Year of release: 1972

Convinced Gordon Parks Jr's blaxploitation film was a commercial for cocaine, Curtis Mayfield wrote the antidote in a Chicago basement apartment. Bleak lyrics about poverty and addiction ride deep grooves, wah-wah guitar and stinging brass, so 'Pusherman' and 'Freddie's Dead' hit the dancefloor and the conscience together.
