'Piano Man' grew out of Billy Joel's six months playing a Los Angeles piano bar under an assumed name, and it opens a dozen years of hits. From 'Only the Good Die Young' to 'Uptown Girl', his nod to the Four Seasons, his songs swing between New York grit and Broadway sparkle.
