BUDOS BAND 'Budos Band' Vinyl LP (Afrobeat)

Year of release: 2005

Staten Island's Budos Band recorded this debut for Brooklyn's Daptone label, home of Sharon Jones, mixing Ethiopian jazz, Afrobeat and gritty 60s soul. Blaring horns, organ and fat bass grooves make 'Up from the South' swing like a James Brown instrumental by way of Addis Ababa.
