'LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT' Soundtrack (David Hess) BROWN Vinyl LP (1972)

Year of release: 1972

Wes Craven's brutal debut has one of horror's strangest soundtracks: gentle folk songs and jaunty banjo, written and sung by David Hess, who also played the film's chief villain, Krug. The gap between those sweet tunes and the horror on screen is exactly what makes it so unsettling.
