'TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE' Soundtrack (Tobe Hooper & Wayne Bell) TEXAS SUMMER Vinyl LP (1974)

Year of release: 1974

Rather than hire a composer, Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell made this score themselves from scraped metal, broken instruments, clanging percussion and studio tricks. Clattering, droning and sun-blistered, it's less a soundtrack than the sound of panic itself, as relentless as Leatherface's chainsaw.
