'THE THING' Soundtrack (John Carpenter/Ennio Morricone) "TRAPPED UNDER ICE" Vinyl LP (1982)

Year of release: 1982

Brought in to score the Antarctic alien thriller, Ennio Morricone wrote a minimalist synth heartbeat that sounds remarkably like John Carpenter's own music. That pulsing two-note throb, plus Morricone's chilling orchestral textures, captures the frozen isolation and creeping paranoia of every scene.
