Alt-J

Named after the Mac keyboard shortcut that generates the Greek delta symbol (Δ), Alt-J is an English indie rock band formed in Leeds in 2007. The group is celebrated for its highly distinct sound, which intricately blends elements of indie pop, folk, electronic music, and art rock. They are widely recognised for their unconventional song structures, layered vocal harmonies, and cryptic, literature-inspired lyrics.

The band shot to international prominence with their 2012 debut album, An Awesome Wave, which won the prestigious British Mercury Prize and featured the massive hit “Breezeblocks”. Their success continued with their second album, This Is All Yours, further showcasing their ability to pair infectious, syncopated rhythms with avant-garde production.
