ALVIN CURRAN 'Drumming Up Trouble' Vinyl LP (2022 Experimental/Abstract/Hip Hop)

Year of release: 2022

Composer Alvin Curran, a founder of the radical 60s group Musica Elettronica Viva, built much of this from hip hop samples and sampled drums on a keyboard rig he's refined since the 80s. Side two's 'Field It More', dating from the early 80s, layers a James Brown-style riff with out-of-tune piano and a Roland drum machine, loose, quirky and full of swing.
