ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS 'Buhaina's Delight' 180g Vinyl LP

Year of release: 1963

Buhaina was Art Blakey's Muslim name, Abdullah Ibn Buhaina, and this session spotlights his great early-60s band with Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter and Curtis Fuller. The three-horn front line makes the hard bop richer and more muscular, with Shorter's tunes adding a sly, modern edge.
