FUNKADELIC 'Maggot Brain' 45rpm Vinyl 2LP (1971 Funk)

Year of release: 1971

George Clinton told Eddie Hazel to play as if he'd just heard his mother had died, and the solo he poured into the title track is one of the most wrenching in rock. Joel Brodsky's cover photo of a screaming woman buried in the earth sets the tone, though 'Can You Get to That' brings gospel-tinged warmth.
