When the tapes for their planned album were stolen, Green Day started again and wrote a punk rock opera about a disillusioned kid called Jesus of Suburbia. 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' and 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' carried the story onto radio everywhere, and the album went to number one.
