Hallucinogen

Hallucinogen is Simon Posford's psychedelic trance project, and the records he made under the name in the mid-90s helped define Goa and psytrance. His breakthrough track 'LSD' set the template: rubbery acid lines, squelching, constantly mutating synths and a relentless galloping bassline, laced with spoken samples and a wicked sense of humour.

Twisted and The Lone Deranger stretched that sound across full albums, packed with detailed, hallucinatory sound design that worked as well on headphones as on a dance floor, and In Dub, with Ott remixing the tracks, later slowed everything down into deep, spacious dub. Posford took the same studio wizardry into Shpongle with Raja Ram and Younger Brother with Benji Vaughan.
