ALICE COLTRANE 'Journey In Satchidananda' ORANGE Vinyl LP (1971 Free Jazz/Avant Garde)

Year of release: 1971

Cut mostly at her own home studio in Dix Hills, New York, with one track taped live at the Village Gate, it takes its name from her spiritual teacher, Swami Satchidananda. Alice Coltrane's harp ripples over tambura drone, and the result is calm, floating and devotional. Play it when you want the room to slow down.
