Aphrodite's Child

Aphrodite’s Child was an influential Greek progressive rock band formed in 1967 by Vangelis, Demis Roussos, and Loukas Sideras. Relocating to Paris, the trio initially achieved widespread European commercial success with lush, psychedelic pop hits like "Rain and Tears" and "End of the World".

The band is most celebrated for their ambitious, avant-garde double album 666 (1972). Based on the biblical Book of Revelation, the record blended progressive rock, electronic experimentation, and theatrical performances. However, internal creative tensions caused the group to disband before the masterpiece was even released.

Despite their short lifespan, Aphrodite’s Child left a permanent mark on music history. The group served as the critical launching pad for Vangelis’s legendary career as an electronic composer and Demis Roussos’s run as a global pop icon.
