Pink Floyd
An inflatable pig broke loose above Battersea Power Station during the Animals cover shoot and drifted into Heathrow's flight path. It was a very Pink Floyd moment: grand, absurd and slightly unsettling.
The band began as Syd Barrett's whimsical psychedelic group on The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. After Barrett's departure, David Gilmour's soaring guitar and Roger Waters's lyrics about madness, money and time produced The Dark Side of the Moon, which spent more than 900 weeks on the US album chart.
Wish You Were Here mourned Barrett with 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', and The Wall turned Waters's alienation into a rock opera, with 'Another Brick in the Wall' reaching number one around the world.
