Kevin Parker writes, performs and produces almost everything on Tame Impala's records himself, mostly alone in home studios around Perth, then brings in a band to play it live.

Innerspeaker and Lonerism drowned Beatles-ish melodies in phasing, fuzz and drums that hit like boxing gloves, and Currents swapped guitars for synths and disco basslines on 'Let It Happen' and 'The Less I Know the Better'. Rihanna covered its 'New Person, Same Old Mistakes'.

The Slow Rush brooded over time slipping away, and Deadbeat in 2025 leaned into the rave culture of Western Australia's bush doofs, with 'End of Summer' winning a Grammy.
