Faith No More
Faith No More mashed metal, funk, rap, prog and lounge music together long before it was fashionable, and did it with a sense of mischief. Heavy guitar, funky bass, tribal drumming and Roddy Bottum's keyboards made a dense, unpredictable backdrop for whoever was singing.
With Chuck Mosley out front, the early records were rough and raw, but Mike Patton's arrival made them stars: The Real Thing gave them the hit 'Epic', and Angel Dust grew darker, stranger and more ambitious. King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime and Album of the Year followed before a split in 1998, and they returned years later with Sol Invictus.
