Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam spent the height of their fame battling Ticketmaster over service fees, and that stubborn, principled streak runs through everything they do. They rose from Seattle's Mother Love Bone after singer Andrew Wood's death, with Eddie Vedder's deep, impassioned baritone out front.
Ten, with 'Alive', 'Even Flow' and 'Jeremy', turned them into grunge superstars, and Vs. set a record for first-week sales. Rather than chase that success, they stopped making videos, and Vitalogy and No Code got rawer and stranger.
Decades later they remain one of rock's great live bands, releasing official recordings of hundreds of shows, and 2024's Dark Matter, produced by Andrew Watt, was their loudest in years.
