Talking Heads
That enormous, boxy suit David Byrne wears in Stop Making Sense sums up Talking Heads: art-school ideas made physical, nervy and impossible not to dance to.
Out of CBGB with 'Psycho Killer', Byrne's jittery yelp, Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz's taut rhythm section and Jerry Harrison's keyboards grew more adventurous with Brian Eno producing. Fear of Music turned paranoid and funky, and Remain in Light, inspired by Fela Kuti's Afrobeat, layered polyrhythms into 'Once in a Lifetime'.
They split in 1991, though the restored Stop Making Sense reunited all four for interviews in 2023.
