A Tribe Called Quest
A Tribe Called Quest was an iconic American hip-hop group formed in 1985. They are widely revered as pioneers of alternative hip-hop and jazz rap. By blending jazz samples with socially conscious, witty, and Afrocentric lyrics, they offered a vibrant alternative to the aggressive gangsta rap that dominated the era.
The group shaped the sound of 1990s hip-hop with classic albums like The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders. Their music was defined by a philosophical, laid-back vibe and the brilliant lyrical chemistry between Q-Tip and Phife Dawg.
Despite a long hiatus and internal tensions, they reunited to deliver a highly acclaimed final album in 2016 following the tragic passing of Phife Dawg. Their innovative style left a lasting legacy, cementing their status as legends of the Hip Hop genre.
