Arctic Monkeys

Formed in Sheffield in 2002, Arctic Monkeys shot to fame in 2006 with their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not which became the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history. Fronted by primary songwriter Alex Turner, the band is celebrated for its sharp lyricism and constant musical evolution. While their early work featured fast-paced indie rock and gritty observations of British nightlife, they later transitioned into the heavy, desert-rock riffs of their global smash album AM in 2013, and eventually into the cinematic, lounge-pop styles of their recent records. As pioneers of the internet-era music scene, they were one of the first bands to gain massive popularity via fan-made social media pages.
